Our public space next to the boatshop, the Boathouse at Tumblehome, is open to the public with regular business hours, and includes a showroom with any number of boats on exhibit.
When it opened in 2015, the Boathouse featured a museum-style exhibit of “El Lagarto,” the famed Gold Cup raceboat, which had left its prominent display at the Adirondack Museum (now known as Adirondack Experience) for the first time in 50 years. Later, it featured “Echo,” a 1926 Fay & Bowen, also on loan from the Adirondack Museum.
Today, an unrestored 1913 Fay & Bowen launch, “Caroline,” is on exhibit in the Boathouse at Tumblehome, along with a small collection of antique Fay & Bowen engines and a few small rowing and sailing boats.
In the past, the Boathouse has showcased two extremes: “Stella Blue,” the new Tumblehome 24 custom speedboat we built for a client on a nearby lake, plus “Achilles,” a 1926 Fay & Bowen junior runabout we restored (including its correct restored period engine) for a client on Lake George, among other beautiful wooden boats.
Future exhibits will feature special boats, predominantly historic and classic boats that we work on.
The back area of the Boathouse is only open on limited occasions. This climate-controlled area contains boats that are in storage or in the queue to be restored at Tumblehome.
